It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Today is the day before my new teaching contract starts. The kids don’t come back until the beginning of September, but there is still so much excitement and anticipation at the start of a new year. A new group of children will be arriving in my “virtual” classroom soon. I’m excited to be teaching another year in first grade. I’m excited to be starting at a new school. I’m excited, yes, even for online learning. It’s going to be a challenge, but I feel like I have a good attitude about it.

And through all that 2020 has thrown our way, I feel like my role as an educator has very much stayed the same. Over on my online teaching portfolio, I hash out my honest thoughts on online learning, and what’s so important to keep in mind for these kiddos as they’re engaging in school nowadays.

Living through a global pandemic is something I never expected having to do in my lifetime. But alas, here we are. And remaining as positive as I can be is something that keeps me sane, helps me to choose kindness, helps me to keep going. I find that fearing the future is an option, but one that I know won’t help me much in the present. But I can also find that we can do the best we can with what we’ve got; that’s what educators have always done and will continue to do moving forward.

So, here’s to another school year! It’s the most wonderful time of the year. :)
